SPSS

SPSS licenses under Columbia's discounted pricing agreement with IBM SPSS Statistics is available only to current Columbia University students, faculty, and staff. Current faculty, staff, and students are eligible for the license. Retirees, alumni, and non-affiliates are not eligible for this license.

Note: CUIT currently provides 64 bit software only for versions 31 and 30. These versions are available to both Windows PCs and Macs.

Clients purchasing SPSS are responsible for the installation and correct use of the product, as well as understanding hardware and operating system requirements.

CUIMC affiliates can purchase SPSS from CUIMC. All SPSS technical support for CUIMC affiliates is provided by CUIMC IT ([email protected]) and by SPSS.

How to Obtain SPSS Licenses

You can make all SPSS purchases by making a request. Faculty and staff should submit a departmental chart string for payment. CUIT will also send an invoice if requested. Students can now purchase SPSS licenses by submitting their C number, found in SSOL. Soon after you have submitted a request, you will hear from a CUIT representative. You will then be given access to download the software and provided with an authorization code.

License validation period spans from August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026

• Price is based on the licensing contract along with an administration fee
• One license is the equivalent of two computers (laptops, desktops)
• The price is fixed and cannot be pro-rated. The software will not run after the license expires. To get the best possible results and avoid any risk of downtime, please make sure to purchase a renewal at least 5-7 business days before your license expires.

Please note that software site license transactions are considered final upon purchase and once the request has been processed.  Due to the nature of our licensing and fulfillment requirements and procedures, no refunds, no returns, or prorated pricing adjustments will be issued. 

License Validity Dates

SPSS licenses are valid for a one year period, from August 1 through July 31. SPSS has a 30 day grace period.
