Public Kiosk Locations
Public computers for reading email, browsing the web, and other Internet activities.
ColumbiaNet (CNET) kiosk computers provide easy access to a wide variety of campus information, email, Internet and allow you to transfer data from USB drives. Placed in lobbies, libraries, and lounges across campus, they are accessible to anyone at Columbia. While convenient, these stations are primarily used for quick access to the Internet and Microsoft Office, not for long-term work.

Kiosk Security
Documents and sensitive data should not be saved locally on kiosk computers, as these machines are publicly accessible. For your protection, CNET stations automatically log out after 3 minutes of inactivity and the data you download or save is purged upon manual or automatic logout.
Kiosk Software
The ColumbiaNet Stations run a heavily locked-down version of Microsoft Windows 10. The stations have USB drive support, allowing users to view, create, edit, print and save files to and from USB drives. The following software is installed on all kiosks:
- Google Chrome: Web browser
- Acrobat Reader: View and print PDF files
- Microsoft Office: Create, view, edit and print Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations
- Plugins: Flash, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, Real Player, Zotero
ColumbiaNet stations can easily be customized for specific locations, for example if your department would like to use a different homepage or button. Email [email protected] for more information.
