Network Field Services

The Network Field Services (NFS) department provides network connectivity for the Columbia University community at the Morningside and Manhattanville Campuses as well as other locations in the region. Network connectivity is provided in residences, classrooms, offices and research facilities. NFS manages the installation and maintenance of Columbia University’s network infrastructure which includes copper cable, fiber optic and coaxial cable. Connectivity is supported through wired connections to workstations and residences as well as wireless access points installed throughout campus. Additional communication functions include telephony, ROLM phones and voice over IP phone and cable television. NFS works closely with the Infrastructure Engineering and Network Support Services team to provide Columbia's Internet, desktop phone, and cable services.

NFS also provides field support for special events as well as major campus-wide activities like Commencement and Pulitzer Prize judging.
