Reference Manager

Reference Manager, like EndNote, is a program for harvesting, managing and using bibliographic citations. It is particularly popular among scholars and researchers in the science and medical fields. This version of the program includes an optional ability to publish and create searchable bibliographic databases on the web.

The Columbia University Libraries purchased a site license for the Columbia community. You can download the program for free.

Download and Installation
(Current faculty, staff, and students of Columbia University and its affiliates are eligible to download.)

Download the installer (required UNI login):

Version 11 for Windows (48 MB)

Save the installer to your hard drive, and make a note of the folder that you saved it in.

Run the installer.

When prompted for a serial number, enter nothing and click on Next.

You must install "Reference Manager 11 Network." "Web publisher" is an optional feature that most users will probably not need to use.

Do NOT select the "Register Online" option, as you will not be able to supply a serial number.

After the installation completes, you are not finished!

Click Start -> Run and type (or copy) the following in the Open field exactly:

C:\Program Files\Reference Manager 11 Network\Program\InstallRM11W.exe

Click OK, click Next, then Finish.
