The Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) Teaching & Learning Applications team provides technology resources, platforms and services to support Columbia's faculty, students and researchers.
CourseWorks is Columbia University's Learning Management System (LMS), providing comprehensive course management for faculty and students, including tools for posting a course syllabus, collaboration and discussion boards, online assignments and tests. The Teaching & Learning Applications team is also currently piloting a new LMS with additional functionality, called Canvas, alongside CourseWorks.
CourseWorks Collaboration Services
Do you need an online forum for collaboration with colleagues and students? Our team can support your academic activities by providing you with a collaboration space within CourseWorks where you can share information for any period of time, not restricted to an academic term. These sites can be requested by faculty, administrative staff, teaching assistants, staff assistants and students, and are accessible by UNI and guests with valid email addresses. University Events Calendar
The Teaching & Learning Applications team is responsible for the technology (Sundial/Bedeworks) behind Columbia University's events calendar. If you or your team need access to post events to the calendar, submit a request via the CUIT service desk.
Online Course Evaluations & Reporting
Want to get feedback on how your course is received by students? We can assist you in creating online course evaluation forms. Visit our request form within CourseWorks, or the CUIT Service Catalog for additional information.
Online Survey Services
Do you need to gain feedback from colleagues or students, with the ability to view and analyze collected data? Our online survey solution, Qualtrics, provides powerful tools for building flexible online surveys that provide you with the data you need to make informed decisions. Plagiarism Detection Services
Using a tool called TurnItIn, our team provides faculty and students with access to a quick and easy solution for determining whether written papers and exercises contain plagiarised content. Instructors and school administrators are granted access by their individual schools or departments. Students may also gain access by contacting their instructors.
Open Data Services
Are you an application developer who needs consistent, accurate and secure data regarding University courses, textbooks, events and other resources? Our data feeds are provided in programming-friendly formats and are available to any member of the Columbia community with a UNI.
