Access Management (Physical Security)

Support for CUID swipe access into University buildings and rooms.

Also known as Lenel OnGuard.

Columbia University ID (CUID) cards are configured to provide physical access for all students, faculty members, researchers, and administrators to campus buildings and rooms. CUIT manages and maintains the system that integrates with the University card readers, and supports the administrators that provide CUIDs to the Columbia community.

CUIT manages and maintains Lenel OnGuard, a physical access system that provides entrance to Columbia University's campus buildings and rooms with Columbia University ID (CUID) cards, configured for all students, faculty members, researchers, and administrators. CUIT supports the users of the Lenel OnGuard system: ID Centers, Residence Halls Operations, and Public Safety.

If you need a new CUID card, replacement card, or assistance with card problems, please visit one of the Columbia ID Centers located on the Morningside and Medical Center campuses.

If you have lost your CUID card or are unable to access a Columbia building or room, please contact the Office of Public Safety to deactivate or update access privileges. Public Safety also plans and consults on the deployment of new access control devices (doors, turnstiles, video, etc.) if you are setting up a new entrance.

If you have issues using your CUID for your dining plan, dining dollars, or flex account, please visit Columbia Dining or email [email protected].
