Installing Cisco AnyConnect VPN client on a Mac

Follow these instructions for installing the Cisco Any Connect Desktop Client on an Apple Mac computer.

  • Open your browser and go to https://vpn.cc.columbia.edu

    VPN login screen
  • Type in your Uni and Password and click Login.

  • You will see a few screens while it detects your OS and browser. Just wait through them.

  • When you see the screen above click on AnyConnect VPN. Your download will start.

  • When the download completes, double click on the downloaded file anyconnect-macos-4.4.00243-core-vpn-webdeploy-k9.dmg.

  • When the window opens double click on the package anyconnect-macos-4.4.00243-core-vpn-webdeploy-k9.dmg.

  • Run through the installation following the screens below.

    click on agree to proceed
    click install to continue
    type your UNI and password.

    You May or May not get this last screen below based on which Mac OS version you are using.  Either way you can choose to keep the installer or delete it. We recommend Move to Trash.

  • Now that it is installed, locate the software in your Applications Folder. It is in a folder called Cisco. Then double click on Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

  • When AnyConnect opens, type in vpn.cc.columbia.edu into the text box and click connect.

  • You will be prompted to enter your UNI and password.

    type UNI and password for the username and password field.
  • When connected you will see this screen and notice the globe in your menu bar changed to have a lock on it.

  • To disconnect when done, click on the globe and choose disconnect.

    Go to the top menu to disconnect the cisco
