Access to this server provides the following:

Ability to Share Printers

Access to this server allows you to share printers on the network.

We use Hewlett Packard LaserJet printers for network print sharing and have a list of recommended printers on our Desktop Support page.

Note: On April 8, 2022, the C-Print Print Server will no longer be in use. To continue using the CUIT Shared Printing solutions, please reach out to CUIT's Desktop Support Team to move to our Secure Printing Solution, Badger, or the replacement printing solution CUPrint.

Personal Space on the Server

We ensure the security of your files by providing each user with 500 Megabytes of space on the server for personal critical data. The file server is backed up nightly, so your data is protected. You can also choose to put files on a shared drive to collaborate with your colleagues.

Workgroup Space on Central

CUIT also provides Workgroup Space, a Central service that allows you to share files effortlessly among your colleagues. We offer hard disk space (in 1-gigabyte increments) to provide your office with a private, secure workgroup space to share information, data, and any specialized applications that your office staff members use. Workgroup space can hold your office's custom, multi-user database or a set of standard office forms or documents. The space is entirely defined by your office needs.

Access Permissions for Central Shared Resources

CUIT has documented the process to restructure and maintain Active Directory folder permissions on the central file server. This practice, to be done on an annual basis, will ensure compliance with Internal Audit's annual certification requirements. This process will ensure that access to resources on CUIT's central server is granular and role-based. The CUIT Client Services (CSS) group is happy to consult with your departmental liaison regarding your shared directories and permissions. Please note that this service is only available to central administrative departments and will be fee-based.
