SPSS

SPSS is a computer program used for statistical analysis, also known as "IBM SPSS Statistics".

SPSS licenses under Columbia's discounted pricing agreement with IBM SPSS Statistics is available only to current Columbia University students, faculty and staff. The software is not available to alumni.

Note: CUIT currently provides 64 bit software only for versions 25, 24, and 23.

Clients purchasing SPSS are responsible for the installation and correct use of the product, as well as understanding hardware and operating system requirements.

CUMC affiliates can either purchase SPSS from CUIT or from CUMC. All SPSS technical support for CUMC affiliates is provided by CUMC IT (5help@columbia.edu) and by SPSS.

How to Obtain SPSS Licenses

You can make all SPSS purchases by submitting a ticket. Faculty and staff should submit a departmental chart string for payment. CUIT will also send an invoice if requested. Students can now purchase SPSS licenses by submitting their C number, found in SSOL. Soon after you have submitted a request, you will hear from a CUIT representative. You will then be given access to download the software and provided with an authorization code.

Pricing for July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018

$85 per license

  • One license is the equivalent of one computer (laptop, desktop)
  • The price is fixed and cannot be pro-rated. The software will not run after the license expires. To get the best possible results and avoid any risk of downtime, please make sure to purchase a renewal at least one month before your license expires.

License Validity Dates

SPSS licenses are valid for a one year period, from July 1 through June 30. SPSS has a 30 day grace period.
