CUIT Desktop Support provides computing services to assist in your business workflow. Our services include, but are not limited to, hardware and software consultation, procurement and setup, ongoing support, managed secure desktops, and local drive backup services. We also offer support for standard email clients, LionMail and Exchange. We support both Windows and Mac OS environments.

Service Eligibility

Please submit a ticket to the CUIT Service Desk or call at 212-854-1919 to determine if you have appropriate hardware. Please note that we do not provide support for personal computers, either given by the University or otherwise

Standard Supported Hardware and Software

CUIT supports and recommends Dell and Apple hardware.

Each department must appoint an authorized buyer, and the Desktop Support team will complete the configuration to CUIT standards after the purchase has been completed

PCard users note: Purchases made through Dell Personal Purchases and the Apple Individual Store will be charged sales tax. Purchases made through Dell Institutional Purchases and the Apple Institutional Store are tax exempt.

Apple

Departmental authorized purchasers will need an apple ecommerce account to place orders; if you do not have one, please contact the CUIT Service Desk by submitting a request via ticket or calling 212-854-1919. Then you can place your order with Apple online or can call 800-800-2775 and choose option 2, followed by option 2. If you're not authorized, you can complete a one-time registration by following the Sign Up steps for an Apple ID. You will receive approval via a "Welcome Email" from Apple within 24 hours, and then you can visit the Apple online education store for your quotes and/or purchases. If you have problems, please call 800-800-2775 and choose option 6.

CUIT supports and recommends HP printers.

HP Laserjet Pro M607dn Printer: A workgroup printer for medium to large groups ranging between 10 and 20 users. It is a black and white laser printer and fully capable of network connectivity.

HP LaserJet Pro 400 M402dne Printer: A duplex-ready printer that uses a 3.5" color touchscreen to access and print from the web. It can be networked to share with other members of your workgroup and installed on the network domain.

HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dn Printer: A color laser printer with automatic two-sided printing and sheet-fed document finishing with the capability to be networked to share with other members of your workgroup.
